Unlike buying an existing preowned or new construction house, where you can compare house prices by the cost per square foot, buying a house that has not been built yet requires answering a few more questions first:
- Floor plan: How much of the house will be heated and how much will be unheated (garage or porches)? Will it be one story or two? How many bathrooms and bedrooms? Fireplace?
- Materials: Will the exterior walls be wood, Hardie board, brick or concrete? Will the countertops be granite, marble, Corian, etc? Will the floors be wood, tile, carpet or other? Will the roof be made of shingles or metal?
- Fixtures: What type of lighting, faucets, appliances do you prefer?
- Extras: Do you want a pool, a large deck, a detached garage? Do you need a long driveway?
These are just a few of the questions that will lead you to the final answer of the cost to build a house on your lot. At All State Homes we have been helping people through this process for over 60 years. Contact us today to go over all the options available in new houses.
